More Boko Haram Camps Destroyed By Soldiers (With Very Graphic Photos)

Following reliable information on the presence of some Boko Haram 
terrorists, troops of 113 Battalion conducted a fighting patrol to Dunga
 general area on Thursday during which they discovered and destroyed a 
Boko Haram terrorists’ camp at Alajeri village in Guzamala Local 
Government Area of Borno State.<br />
In the operation, the troops killed 40 Boko Haram terrorists and 
captured 1 General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), 1 Rocket Propelled 
Grenade 7 ( RPG 7), 6 AK-47 rifles, 2 Fabrique Nationale rifles, 10 
magazines, 188 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition and 64 rounds of 
7.62mm (Special) ammunition. Other items recovered by the troops 
included 3 mobile phones, 6 copies of Holy Quran and 20 Motorcycles.<br />

Muktar
 who hails from Gonge in Maiduguri, Borno state, was arrested at Kara – 
Mowe area of Ogun state near Lagos last February 25 following a tip – 
off.<br />

Parading the suspect on Monday after at the Headquarters of 
the Federal Special Anti – Robbery Squad(FSARS) at Magbon – Abeokuta, 
Ogun state, the Commissioner of Police, AbdulMajid Ali, said the suspect
 had confessed to be being a member of Boko haram sect.<br />
<br />
Ali added
 that Police investigation had also revealed that Muktar fled Maiduguri 
two and half years ago into Ogun and was initiated into the muderous 
Boko haram organisation by one Mustapha.<br />
<br />
According to him, 
exchange of intelligence between the Command and its counterparts in 
Borno state coupled with support of members of the Hausa community in 
Kara, Ogun state, helped in the identification and arrest of Muktar.<br />

Muktar
 who spoke through an interpreter said he knew few Boko haram members in
 Borno state before fleeing the state when the security agencies stepped
 – up man – hunt for the sect.<br />

if he had participated in any of the sect’s savage attacks on churches, 
mosques, markets or motor – parks when reporters enquired from him.</div>

Lagos Robbery And Kidnapping Spree: Ex-Millitants Behind It

According to sources in the Nigerian Police and the Department of State Security Services, available inteligence suggested 
that some of the ex-militants, whose source of livelihood was lost after
 President Muhammadu Buhari cancelled their pipeline protection 
contracts, were responsible for the recent upsurge of crime rate in the 
state.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It was learnt that some of the 
ex-militants and militiamen responsible for protecting pipelines during 
former Goodluck Jonathan’s administration had turned to kidnapping and 
robberies to make money.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He said, “Since abduction seems to be 
profitable and less risky, jobless ex-militants and militia group 
members seem to have found a lucrative business in the kidnapping of 
hapless citizens.”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s 
administration had awarded contracts to six companies to guard pipelines
 belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The pipeline security and surveillance 
contract, said to have been worth N9.3bn, was carried out between March 
15 and June 15, 2015.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The pipeline surveillance contract was 
awarded to companies owned by former Niger Delta militants, 
self-determination groups and prominent Nigerians including Government 
Tompolo Ekpumopolo, Mujaheedin Asari-Dokubo, Ateke Toms, Bipobiri Ajube 
and Ebikabowei Victor Ben (Boyloaf).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Others are the company of the founder of Oodua Peoples Congress, Fredrick Fasehun and OPC national co-ordinator, Gani Adams.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The operational areas for the companies 
were: Egbe Security River One (Bayelsa), Gallery Security (Mosinmi-Ore),
 Close Body Protection (Edo), Adex Energy Security (Rivers), Donyx 
Global Concept (Lagos and Ogun), Oil Facilities Surveillance (Delta) and
 New Age Global Security (Mosinmi-Ibadan).</div>

However, President Buhari did not renew 
the pipeline protection contracts awarded to OPC and other militia 
groups by the Jonathan administration.</div>

There have also been cases of 
kidnapping, the latest being the abduction of three schoolgirls from the
 Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary, Ikorodu, on Monday.</div>

A gang of robbers on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, attacked two new generation banks in the Ikorodu area of the state.</div>

The robbers were said to have trailed a 
bullion van to the premises of one bank in the Ogolonto area of the town
 before moving to another bank after they were done with the first.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The police reportedly engaged in a gun 
battle with the robbers but they managed to escape via a speedboat after
 burning the vehicle which conveyed them to the scene of the crime.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Also, no fewer than 40 armed robbers 
invaded two commercial banks in Festac Town, Lagos, on October 13, 2015,
 reportedly carting away a huge sum of money.</div>

About 20 armed robbers, wearing military
 camouflage also attacked five banks in Agbara Industrial Estate in Ogun
 State in November last year.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Also, detectives attached to Igando 
Police Station on Iba Road, Lagos State, recently arrested two men who 
they alleged had just arrived from Niger Delta via the waterway to carry
 out a bank robbery. The suspects, identified as Chinedu Okoro and Keme 
Patrick, were said to have been planning the robbery for Friday of that 
week.</div>

According to security sources, one of 
the strong points of the development is that the assailants are heavily 
armed because of the proliferation of arms in the country.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Force Public Relations Officer, 
Olabisi Kolawole, could not be reached for comments on the efforts being
 made by the police to apprehend and disarm ex-militants and other crime
 gangs across the country.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But the Deputy Force Public Relations 
Officer, Sogbegba West, said the police had started recovering illicit 
arms in the country.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
According to him, the Inspector-General 
of Police, Solomon Arase, has given a three-month window for those with 
illegal arms to surrender them.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He added that the period would expire in March, after which the force would go after persons in possession of illegal arms.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Speaking on Friday, West said, “The IG 
announced in January this year that all holders of illegal arms should 
surrender them and he gave a three-month window which will expire in 
March ending, so from April, anyone with illegal arms will find himself 
to blame because the police will go after them and they would be made to
 face the law.”</div>

Troops of 21 Brigade Bama of the Nigerian Army have successfully ambushed Boko Haram members who were on the run from hideout in the Sambisa forest on Friday. This was made known by the acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman through an electronic mail on Friday. He said that the troops intercepted the terrorists as they were passing through the Sambisa forest on Friday. During the offensive operation, a Toyota Hilux, 2 AK-47 rifles and 37 rounds of 12.7mm metal linked ammunition were recovered.</div>

responsibility, in a blocking position, have at the early hours of

Buhari Orders Investigation Into Benue Fulani-Indigene Clashes

Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari has on Sunday ordered a full investigation in into incessant clashes between Fulani Herdsmen and local communities in Benue State.<br />
This was contained in a statement that was made available to journalists today 
by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity.<br />
Garba Shehu opined that the President expressed deep shock at the latest incident 
that happened during the past week between indigenes and Fulani herdsmen in four communities which led to hundreds of deaths.<br />
He quoted the President as ordering security agencies to get to the root of the problem.<br />
“We will conduct an investigation to know exactly what happened; the 
only way to bring an end to the violence once and for all is to look 
beyond one incident and ascertain exactly what factors are behind the 
conflicts. We are all one nation and one people. There should not be any reason 
why Nigerians of any group or tongue cannot now reside with one another 
wherever they find themselves after decades of living together,” <br />

The President also expressed his condolences to the government and
 people of Benue State, particularly the people of the Agatu 
communities, assuring them that the government would do everything 
possible to ensure that no such incident ever occurred in their midst 
again.<br />
“Once the investigations are concluded, we will act immediately to address the root of the problem,” he said.<br />
Reports had it that at least 145 persons had been killed in 25 villages in the local government area.<br />
The attacks on the communities by herdsmen which started on February 22, 2016, are said to be ongoing.<br />
The state governor, Samuel Ortom, had on Thursday lamented that the killings were getting out of hand.<br />
He said the situation, which had led to the death of many people and 
the destruction of several settlements, had deteriorated to the stage 
that he decided to come and brief the Presidency.<br />

Enyimba yesterday defeated Vipers SC of Uganda 2-0 to qualify for the 
next round of the CAF Champions League on aggregates scores of 2-1.

Trailing 1-0 from the first leg preliminary round held a fortnight back 
in Kampala, the Nigerian champions scored  in either side of the half to
 make light-work of the Ugandan champions, who were holding out for a 
draw to qualify at the expense of the homers.

Playing in Port Harcourt, due to ongoing repair works at their 
traditional home ground in Aba, top scorer in the Nigerian league two 
years ago, Mfom Udoh shot Enyimba into the lead on 29 minutes, calmly 
converting from the penalty spot, to send a sense of relief into Coach 
Paul Aigbogun, who had led the Elephants to three successive defeats and
 was facing severe pressure from fans, who were getting increasingly 
worried with the losing streak of the seven-time record league 
champions.

The goal rattled Vipers, who, thereafter, took the game to the Nigerians
 but found the defence line led by Chinedu Udorji impregnable, resorting
 to long shots from afar, that did little to trouble goalkeeper Femi 
Thomas.

Enyimba knew their 1-0 lead was nothing more than cold comfort as a goal
 by the visitors would be against their interest, making it all the more
 important to score a second goal, which Udoh gladly obliged on the hour
 mark, rounding up his marker before unleashing a volley that rested at 
the back of the net.

There would be no more goal as Enyimba held on to qualify 2-1 on 
aggregate, joining Warri Wolves in the next round of Africa’s premier

One Person Confirmed Dead In Traders - Police Clash At Bolade

One person has been confirmed dead as 
traders at the Ladipo Market, Oshodi, Lagos, on Thursday protested 
against alleged extortion by one <i>Monday Ijoba</i>. It was learnt that <i>Ijoba </i>and his gang members were reportedly employed by the local government authority in the area to collect charges from the traders.</div>

Displaying placards which read, “Monday, enough is enough”, among others, the traders chanted war songs. The market is dominated by Igbo traders who sell spare parts of vehicles and other electronic gadgets.</div>

Policemen and 
soldiers were immediately mobilised to the scene, but some of the protesters reportedly 
fired gunshots to chase them away.<i> </i>During the protest, a trader, whose identity had yet to be identified, was hit by a stray bullet and died, while others were injured. </div>

We learnt that <i>Ijoba’s</i>
 boys had attacked a trader, who challenged them on the extortion last 
week. The trader was seriously injured and was said to have eventually died. This caused the Thursday’s protest, which started around 9am, paralysing 
commercial activities in the market. The rioters hurled bottles and other weapons at <i>Ijoba’s</i> gang members. This continurd for a few hours before the security operatives were able to restore normalcy to the area. Gadgets of some eyewitnesses who wanted to capture the incident were also seized, and photos taken from the scene were deleted.</div>
